Un pequeño resumen del año 2008 A little summary of the year 2008

Queridos Amigos de Rusia:

Hace ahora ya bastante tiempo que no os cuento alguna cosa de cómo va nuestra labor por estas tierras rusas y no querría que terminase la Navidad sin hacerlo, aunque sea un poco deprisa. El motivo principal es que seguimos necesitando vuestras oraciones, vuestras limosnas y vuestro calor humano para seguir adelante. Sobre todo, aunque a alguien le pudiese parecer otra cosa, vuestras oraciones son fundamentales para nosotros. Si alguno de vosotros recibe este mail sin haberlo solicitado, lo más probable es que alguno de vuestros amigos me haya dado vuestro mail y os incluido en la lista de amigos. Pero si no queréis recibir más información de nuestras actividades, no tenéis más que decirlo.

En esencia, el año pasado ha sido un año de bendiciones para nosotros. Para mi lo más importante de todo es la labor con monaguillos, seminaristas y sacerdotes, porque de esa labor (de la de toda la diócesis, no sólo de lo poco que ayudamos nosotros), depende el futuro de la Iglesia Católica en Rusia. En este último año han venido a la parroquia muchos monaguillos. En la misa de Domingo solemos tener alrededor de diez. Con ellos hacemos algunos encuentros y ahora tenemos el proyecto de hacer un pequeño campamento en primavera. Os agradecería muchísimo que rezaráis por estos chavales, sobre todo por uno, ya mayor, que tiene deseos de ser sacerdote. Con los seminaristas también hemos hecho amistad: nos ayudan en la parroquia y les ayudamos en la parroquia. Y con los sacerdotes también vamos haciendo amistades. A algunos también les ayudamos con las intenciones de misas que vosotros nos mandáis. Esas intenciones son parte importante de su modo de mantenerse. Por último querría deciros a los que ya hace años que nos ayudáis con vuestras oraciones que por fin se le arreglaron las cosas a aquel sacerdote que tenía muchos problemas con la documentación interna en Rusia. Ahora ya puede vivir tranquilo y está trabajando con muchos frutos. Le habéis ayudado mucho con vuestras oraciones y también con vuestras limosnas, pues le sufragamos los gastos para que un abogado le resolviese sus problemas.

En la parroquia de Tsarskoe Selo, las cosas van muy bien. Claro que podrían ir mejor, pero ciertamente es para dar gracias a Dios. Ha habido bastantes conversiones y bautizos. Y sobre todo ha crecido mucho la catequesis (todo según nuestros números). Ahora debemos tener unos 25 chavales en catequesis y un grupo estupendo de 6 catequistas. En verano hicimos nuestro primer campamento parroquial, que tuvo dos temas: el hobbit y la eucaristía. Salió fenomenal. Todos, incluido el párroco, disfrutamos muchísimo. Ciertamente la parroquia crece. El día de Nochebuena vinieron entre 150 y 200 personas. Además hemos empezado un pequeño coro parroquial. Y nuestro Belén empieza a coger fama y va viniendo más gente a recogerlo. Ahora los retos son hacer un grupo de caritas parroquial y por fin comenzar en serio las obras de restauración. Espero que este año lo consigamos, porque ahora la gente empieza a pensar en nosotros como en una parroquia normal y empieza a preguntarnos: ¿cuándo ponemos el órgano?, ¿cuándo ponemos las campanas? ¿porqué las naves del templo están blancas? ¿porqué los altavoces funcionan tan mal (los ha puesto un parroquiano de modo muy económico)?. Así que tenemos que empezar a espabilarnos y este año dar un salto de calidad.

En Komi también va creciendo poco a poco la parroquia, aunque menos, porque allí estamos menos tiempo. Pero la gente sigue siendo amabilísima y llena de atenciones a otets Franzisk cuando va a estar con ellos una vez al mes. Allí también ha habido bodas y bautizos.

En Kolpino, nuestro otro punto pastoral en San Petersburgo, todavía no lo conseguimos. La verdad es que no hay manera de que arranquen las cosas. Pero como somos la misma gente y con las mismas ganas de que salga adelante la labor, pensamos que al final lo conseguiremos. Para ello hemos comprado un pequeño y feísimo edificio en el centro. Es bastante pequeño, 130 metros cuadrados, pero será suficiente. Ahora vamos, si Dios quiere, a transformarlo en Iglesia. Para hacerlo vamos a tener que gastar alrededor de 275.000 Euros. Es evidentemente “muchísimo” dinero. Pero esperamos conseguirlo. Si podéis ayudarnos con vuestras oraciones y con vuestras limosnas os lo agradeceríamos mucho. Por último la editorial también sigue adelante, muy poco a poco. Este año hemos publicado Amigos de Dios y Forja. Ahora vamos a sacar el tomo de Cuaresma de Carvajal, un libro sobre la Virgen y un tomo sobre la historia de la Iglesia Católica en Rusia, en el que llevamos trabajando mucho tiempo.

Dear Friends of Russia,it has been quite a time that I have not told you about our pastoral work here. Christmas should not pass without having filled this lack, even though it may be a little bit hasty. The main motive for doing so is that we need your prayers, your alms and your heartfelt attention in order to continue.Even though it may appear otherwise, it is your prayers that are absolutely necessary for us. In case that somebody of you receives this mail without having asked for, the most probable explanation is that some of your friends has provided me your e-mail address. If you don't want to receive more information about our activities, just say it.

Expressing it altogether in one word, the last year been a continuous blessing for us. For me personally, the most important thing have been the activities of formation of the altar boys, seminarians and priests, because it is this - of course not only the little that we can contribute, but the effort of everybody in the Diocese - on which depends the future of the Catholic Church in Russia. In this last year quite a few altar boys have come to the parish. In the Sunday Mass are serving normally about ten.Usually we organize meetings with them, and now we are planning a little camp in spring. We would appreciate very much if you would pray for all of them, but in particular for one of them, who is a bit older and wants to become a priest. We are also in very good terms with some seminarians who are helping us in the parish, as we are helping them in their home parish.Similarly we are making the acquaintance with more priests. To some of them we can forward the mass intentions we are receiving from you. These stipends are an important part of their material upkeeping. Last not least I have the joy to tell those of you who have been supporting us with their prayer already for years that a priest could eventually get resolved the problems with his civil documentation. Now he can sleep and work peacefully and effectively. In fact, you have helped him a lot with your prayers and financial supports that have made it possible to pay for him a lawyer in order to get the problems resolved.

In the parish of Tsarskoe Selo things are going well. Of course, they always could go better, but there is much reason for giving thanks to God. There have been several conversions and Baptisms. And above all, the catechesis has grown much in number - everything within our small scales. Now we have25 youngsters in the catechetical groups and a crew of six good teachers.During last summer we realized our first parish summer camp. It had twotopics: the hobbits and the Eucharist. It was great. We all together had a phantastic time, including the parish priest himself. The parish is growing numerically, too. On Christmas eve, some 150 - 200 persons were attending midnight mass. We have begun a little parish choire. And our crib is little by little becoming "famous" and attracts visitors. The next challenge will be to begin with a group of Caritas and then - to take more seriously the restoring of the church. Hopefully this year we will be able to do a big step forward; people are beginning to think in terms of normality when they are putting questions like the following: When can we get an organ? When will we get bells? Why are the walls of the church just white? Why the loudspeakers are working so badly (a parishioner has put them in a very economical way)? So we need to "wake up" this year in order to make a good jump ahead.

The parish in Komi is growing little by little, more slowly though, because we are staying less time there. The people there are very, very good. They precipitate themselves with attentions to Fr. Francis when he is coming, at present once a month. There, too, have been weddings and Baptisms.

On the other hand, our other pastoral point in Saint Petersburg, located in Kolpino close to Pushkin, is not really taking off. It seems impossible to get things started there. But I think we get eventually our teeth also into that. For now, we have bought a little and rather ugly house in the centre of the town. It has 130 square meters, which will be sufficient for the moment. Now the task is to transform it into a little church. The attached ppdf gives a first idea of the project. In order to do that we would have to spend around 275 thousand Euros. This amount is for us something from another world, but we hope to get it together step by step. If you could help us with your prayers and donations, we would be very grateful.

Last not least in the list of news, the little publishing house is going ahead. This year (2008), we have published 'Friends of God' and 'Furrow'.Now we want to make ready the volume of Lent from the series of 'In Conversation with God' by Carvajal, another book on Our Lady and a book on the history of the Catholic Church in Russia, for which has been done already a lot of preparatory work.With my best wishes for the year 2009 just started,
